Twinin

Last updated: 5 October 2026

This page explains how personal information and data are handled in Twinin (the app) for iPhone and iPad, and describes the analytics used on this website, which introduces the app.

1. Our position

The developer does not collect or store any personal information about you through the app.

Your browsing history, bookmarks, saved videos, saved passwords, photos and videos you shoot, and your recordings and transcripts are all stored only on your device. None of it is sent to the developer.

The app does show ads from Google and, if you give permission, tracking is used for advertising. See section 8 for how advertising data is handled.

2. What is stored on your device

Browsing history, bookmarks, your RSS list and its display settings, the ad-block allowlist, downloaded videos and their thumbnails, scan history from the camera, transcripts and recordings, and settings such as the split ratio and language are stored on your device.

They are kept in standard iOS storage (UserDefaults) and in the app's own folder, on the device only, and are never sent to the developer or any third party.

Deleting the app removes them from the device, except for anything you exported elsewhere yourself, for example through the Files app.

3. Saved passwords

The app can save website logins and fill them in for you.

Saved usernames and passwords are stored in the iOS data-protection Keychain (kSecUseDataProtectionKeychain) and cannot be read by other apps.

Retrieving a saved password requires Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode.

Saved passwords are never sent to the developer or any third party.

4. Camera and photos

The camera is used to take photos and video, for the document camera, and to read QR codes, barcodes and printed text.

All image analysis — QR scanning and text recognition — happens on your device. No image is sent to any server.

Add-only access to your photo library is used solely when you save something you shot. The app never reads the contents of your photo library.

5. Microphone, recording and transcription

The microphone is used to record video and audio. It is not used until you start a recording.

Transcription runs entirely on your device. Neither the recorded audio nor the resulting text is sent to any server.

The speech model used for transcription (NVIDIA Parakeet converted to Core ML) is downloaded once from Hugging Face (huggingface.co). Only the request for the model is sent; no audio or text is transmitted. You can delete the downloaded model from inside the app.

Recordings and exported text are stored on your device and can be retrieved through the Files app.

6. Websites you visit

The app includes a web browser. When you visit a website, the same information any browser sends — such as your IP address and user agent — reaches that site's operator. How they handle it is governed by their own privacy policy.

Cookies and site data are stored on your device and can be cleared from Settings.

The app includes ad blocking, but it cannot guarantee that every ad or tracker is removed.

7. File and text sharing on your network

File and text sharing works directly between devices on the same local network, such as the same Wi-Fi.

Nothing passes through the developer's servers or any internet service.

iOS will ask for local network permission when you use this feature.

8. Advertising

The app shows ads served by Google AdMob: banner ads, and a full-screen ad before a video download starts.

To deliver and measure ads and to prevent fraud, Google and its partners obtain the advertising identifier (IDFA), your IP address and the approximate region derived from it, device information such as device type and OS, and data about ad impressions and taps. See Google's advertising policies for details.

On first launch the app asks for permission to track through App Tracking Transparency. If you allow it, the advertising identifier may be linked with information collected in other companies' apps and websites and used to show ads based on your interests (personalized ads). If you do not allow it, non-personalized ads are shown. The app works the same either way. You can change this at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking on your iPhone or iPad.

In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, a Google consent form is shown before any ads. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time from "Ad Privacy Settings" in the app's settings.

Buying the one-time Premium unlock removes the full-screen ad before downloads. If you bought Premium before version 3.1.0, banner ads also remain hidden for you, as before.

9. In-app purchases

The app offers a one-time purchase that unlocks the advanced camera features and removes the full-screen ad before downloads. There is no monthly or yearly subscription.

Payment details such as card numbers are never collected or stored by the app or its developer; payment is handled by Apple (the App Store).

The app communicates with Apple to verify and restore purchases. Whether you have purchased is recorded on your device.

10. Accounts

No account or sign-in is required to use the app.

11. Analytics on this website

This site is published on Firebase Hosting and uses Google's Firebase Analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase) to understand how the site is used.

This may collect information such as the pages viewed, the referring site, approximate region, and device and browser type. It concerns visits to this website and is unrelated to your use of the app.

See Google's privacy policy for details about Firebase Analytics.

12. Third-party services

The app and this site use services from Apple (App Store, StoreKit, Photos, Keychain), Google (AdMob, and Firebase for this site) and Hugging Face (which distributes the speech model).

Data handling by each of these services is governed by that provider's own privacy policy.

13. Children's privacy

Because the app includes a web browser, some content you reach through it may not be suitable for children. Please use it under a guardian's supervision.

The developer of the app does not collect personal information from any user. Advertising data is handled as described in section 8.

14. Changes to this policy

This policy may be revised without notice to reflect changes in law or in the app or website. Revisions take effect when they are posted on this page.
