Sengoku

Last updated: October 1, 2026

This page explains how the iPhone and iPad app “Sengoku” (“the App”) handles personal information and data, and how this website, which introduces the App, uses analytics.

1. Information collected by the developer

The developer of the App does not collect any personal information.

The App never collects your name, email address, phone number, location, contacts or photos, and it requires no account or sign-in.

The App contains no analytics tools and no advertising SDKs.

2. Advertising

The App does not show ads, and no information is sent to any advertising company.

3. In-app purchases (tips)

The App offers optional tips (three consumable in-app purchases) for those who wish to support its development. Tipping unlocks nothing and changes nothing in the App.

Neither the App nor its developer collects or stores payment information such as credit card details. Payments are processed by Apple (App Store).

The App communicates with Apple to show prices and complete purchases. The number of tips you have made is stored only on your device, to show a thank-you message.

4. Information stored on your device

The following is stored only on your device: favourite commanders and battles, your language setting, your map type setting, any battles, commanders and notes you add yourself, and the number of tips you have made.

This is stored in standard iOS storage (UserDefaults and the WebView’s local storage) and is never sent to the developer or any third party.

Deleting the App deletes this information from your device.

5. Network connections

The map data, texts and images are bundled with the App, so normal use needs no network.

The App connects to the network only in these cases: to show tip prices and make a purchase (Apple); when you choose the “Terrain” or “With place names” map (Geospatial Information Authority of Japan); and when you open a link to Wikipedia or Wikimedia Commons.

If you choose “Terrain” or “With place names”, map tiles are loaded from the GSI, which receives your IP address. The default map without place names makes no such connection.

Links to Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons open in your device’s browser (such as Safari), and anything after that is governed by those sites’ privacy policies.

6. Images

The images in the App are resized copies of public-domain or CC0 works published on Wikimedia Commons. Showing them involves no network connection and no data collection.

7. Analytics on this website

This website is hosted on Firebase Hosting and uses Google’s Firebase Analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase) to understand how the site is used.

This may collect the pages you view, referrers, approximate region, and device and browser type. This concerns visits to this website only and has nothing to do with use of the App.

For details, please see Google’s privacy policy.

8. Third-party services

The App and this website use services from Apple (App Store / StoreKit), the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan (GSI map tiles) and, for this website, Google (Firebase). The App also links to Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons, run by the Wikimedia Foundation.

Data handled by each service is governed by its provider’s privacy policy.

9. Children’s privacy

The App is not designed primarily for children.

The developer does not collect personal information from any user, regardless of age.

10. Changes to this policy

This policy may be revised without notice following changes in law or in the App or this website. Revised content takes effect when it is posted on this page.
